Iniskerragh means Sheep Island. Originally from the Irish 'Inis' which means 'island' and 'caoragh' which means 'sheep'. Iniskerragh is situated off the North West coast of Donegal, in the bay of Boylagh. It measures 650m by 300m and the highest point is 6.5m above sea level. It is surrounded to the East by Termon and Inisfree, which are less then two miles away. Rutland lies to the North East, the distance to Arranmore is one mile and three miles to Burtonport. Rin Na nEan is attached to Iniskerragh but one has access to it only at low tide. It was named Rin Na nEan because of the different species of birds that have nested there. Iniskerragh has a rocky shore to the West and South and a sandy shore to the East.
